Mom's Journal

Sept 27,1977

We spent the night with two of our grandsons--Travis and Branden. We had to wait until they got out of school which was 5:15 at this time. I'd better explain why they went to school so late. A new school Barratts Grade School was suppose to be finished for the beginning of the school year. It wasn't finished so because of so many children and no rooms for them they have to go in shifts until Barretts School is finished. Because of this problem the teachers are kind of bidding their time so JR and MaraDee didn't think it would be too bad to let Travis and Branden miss a day of school. So we left AF about 6:00 for Strawberry to fish. We stopped on the way and had a hamburger for our supper. It was dark when we got there so we didn't have much else to do but go to bed. The boys were tired and so were we so we went to bed and listened to the radio. It was a long night. Travis and Branden weren't used to sleeping together so they were restless. But morning finally came. We got up about 6:30. Darrel and the boys went and threw their fishing lines out while I fixed breakfast. Darrel caught the biggest fish of the day right then. After breakfast we all piled in the boat. We had a ball catching fish. By 4:00pm we had our limit which is four each for the boys since Travis is eight and Branden is six. Travis was so excited because he caught the next to biggest fish. We had to come home at 4:00. We planned to stay until dark not ever thinking we would catch so many fish. But it worked out just right because Branden was rather bored. His is still a little young to fish. Travis wasn't ready to come home. We had a nice time and it was nice to be with our grandchildren. Hope we can do it again with some of the rest of them.

Wow, they went through a lot to make sure all those grandchildren had a fishing trip or two with them. Fun memories for all those who went. I know Wyatt will always remember every minute spent with grandpa, grandma and Brett. Those were the good old days we all long for.

Yeah, I amazed at how much they went fishing with and without grandkids. I even went with them a few times.
