From Pleasant View

We returned on Wednesday from a trip to Kirtland and Palmyra. We traveled with friends who had served a mission in Kirtland so we saw and did things that we would not otherwise have done. We not only visited the church historic sites but other interesting places in the area. We had a fun trip. The couple we traveled with had made friends of some Amish families and the highlight of our trip was when we were hosted by one of those families and traveled in a horse and buggy to an Amish restaurant for supper and then visited with them in their home. They were so gracious and kind. I learned a greater appreciation of their way of life.

The country we traveled was green and lush and the trees had turned in color enough to enjoy that. We went to Niagara Falls Sunday afternoon after attending church in Kirtland and then on to Palmyra. The falls were crowded with Sunday visitors and we were glad to leave there. We had good days except from some rain which happened most when we were traveling. Chase was in the hospital during our trip with a flare up of his crohn's and we worried about him. After a week in the hospital, he returned home Saturday morning. I am so grateful for the miracles of modern medicine.

We are enjoying the warm fall weather. We enjoyed time Saturday with Branden and family at the sand dunes. So warm for an October day. It was good to get home to get J.R back on his diabetes diet as his sugar was a little high while traveling. Too many good things to eat. Love to all.

So good to hear what you've been up to! You're trip sounds like it was a lot of fun! Deena and I went back there in 2006 to celebrate our 50th birthdays. We will both be 55 next year and we're trying to figure out what to do for it. We're wondering about a train trip. We think it might be a cool way to see some of America in a little bit different way, but we aren't sure where to go. Does anyone have any thoughts or experience with train travel or train vacations?

I've heard great things about Amish country. Glad you got a up close and personal experience.
Hope Chase is doing better.

Treena, I've got trains here in Kenosha. I'm sure you could hop on one and come out this way. :)

Sounds like you had a wonderful trip to amazing places, we all love.
After living in Indiana and associating with the Amish people I love them and their culture. They have wonderful talents and are beautiful people. We had opportunities to eat at their homes and watch their children. Watching the teens interact with each other was like going back about 50 years.
Glad you are home safe and sound.
Praying for Chase and his health issues, that he will continue to recover from this flare-up!
