Ronald Keith Jones

1924 ~ 2011
Ronald Keith Jones returned to his Heavenly Father and loved ancestors on October 31, 2011 surrounded by his family. He suffered a tragic accident from which he never recovered.
Ron was born on March 11, 1924 to Thomas John Jones and Catherine Alice Parry in Bluffdale, Utah where he lived his entire life. He married Ruth Hansen on May 8, 1945 in American Fork, Utah. One of the highlights in his life occurred when they were sealed together and to their six boys in the Salt Lake Temple on June 3, 1965.
Ron was active in the community. He was a city council member shortly after the city was incorporated. He was a charter member of the Bluffdale Lions Club. He was a leader in his club and in Lions International having served as a president several times and a District Governor in Utah. At the time of his death he was serving as secretary of the club. He was known for his ability to bring people together to accomplish projects and to recruit new members.
He served as Bishop of the Bluffdale First Ward and will always be remembered for his ability to reach out to everyone and his service to the widows and needy.
Early in his life he hired out with his truck to deliver groceries for Associated Food Stores and became an employee and eventually rose to be a director of the company at the time of his retirement.
He was an agent for Valley Implement of Preston, Idaho and provided farm equipment and repair and parts services for many people throughout the Salt Lake and Utah Valleys and beyond.
He is survived by his beloved Ruth, one brother, Ed; two sisters Marjorie Henson and Helen Molyneux; six sons, Dee (JoAnne) of Waxahachie, Texas, Tom (Sue) of Bluffdale, Paul (Marilyn) of Riverton, Keith (Becky) of Bluffdale, Kent (Kerrie) of Riverton and Gary (Symantha) of Bluffdale, 17 grandchildren, and 30 great-grandchildren. Uncle Ron is also survived by many precious nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted by Bishop Keith Pitchford on Friday at 11 a.m.
A viewing will be held on Thursday from 5-8 p.m. at the LDS Church on 14400 So. Redwood Rd. and one hour prior to services. Interment will be in the Bluffdale Cemetery.
