This is an addition to Amy and Mike's home from
a few weeks ago. Yesterday, the had a small house fire caused by a saw striking a nail in their attic and starting the insulation in their attic on fire. They started to smell it about 5:30 and when they couldn't keep their eyes from watering Amy went outside into the back yard and Mike went into the attic. Amy could see the smoke coming out from under the roof and she called 911. They got all their photos and the PINK blanket out and all exited the home. Mike's uncle works for the fire department and he was their ASAP, even though he was not on duty. It was contained to the kitchen and they have damage their and in their living room, from the firemen, hoses, and the ashes. There is water damage in the kitchen and the bathroom along with a few holes made by the fire department. She says you can see where some ceiling rafters where black from starting to burn; however, they feel very blessed that is the only damage. They are there this morning starting to clean-up some. The firemen heard a pop when they where putting the fire out so the electricity is off until an electrician comes to make sure all is well. They is no electrical wiring where the fire was smoldering so they feel they will be back in their home soon. They have found many blessing in the timing of this fire and the little loss they have. They are safe and all is well in the rest of the home. They contractor, a member of the ward, came and he felt so bad about it and was offering help in anyway. I guess his insurance will end up paying for this one. Mike and Amy's insurance has already been out started the process and told them of their stipend for hotel and food, etc. They are staying with Mike's Uncle Earl and Aunt Patty. We are glad all is well and they have loved ones to help them. There was never a more anxious 90 minutes in our lives after Amy's first call to pray until we heard from Mike, who was already telling jokes. Love you Mike!!! The girls slept well and Macie doesn’t want to go home because her cousin Chandler is there and she just wants to play. Amy feels that there was no trauma from the event to Macie or Carsen. She said that even when the five fire trucks pulled up Macie was okay and didn’t act scared or upset. Amy is amazing; she is upbeat and relaxed and counting her blessings; just wants to start to clean. Mike is glad that the wet cereal boxes where not his Raisin Brand. They are adding another bathroom, enlarging the master bedroom, and adding a laundry room/closet. Now she will have inside construction a little sooner.

WOW! There has to be a better way to "light a fire under Mike!" ( Ha, Ha, Ha pun totally intended) Just kidding, I'm so glad everyone is okay! I think Amy might need LaShel to come help paint the walls :)
I was very suprised at how little my kids were affected by the drama at our house, it sounds like both Mike and Amy are handling it alright and that is what the kids are affected by. We will keep them in our prayers.
Too scary. Glad it wasn't worse and that all is well.
Mike I'm glad your Raisin Bran wasn't ruined. We would all hate for you to become more "irregular". :-)
Everyone needs their correct daily dosage of fiber. Its a hard world we live in.
Hopefully we can get some new stuff that we've always wanted but never could afford.
You are SOOOOOO right. The world would be a much "easier" place if everyone got their "correct daily dosage of fiber."
Even though this is a unfortunate event I hope you have fun with the redecorating.
