Dad

Dad and I talked a little about the many fishing trips he and mom took their grandkids on. He always tells the more colorful side of the adventures. He related a time when Gage was using his (dad's) somewhat expensive fishing pole. He had a fish on the line and was just playing with it when he decided to set the pole down. Of course the fish took off with the pole going over the side of the boat. He said they trolled the lake for awhile trying to find it without success. Dad said he didn't mind because it gave him an excuse to buy a new pole. He talked about Uncle Ron (now there's a character) and some of his stories (and believe me Ron has stories). Uncle Ron claims he has found many a fishing pole that people have lost in lakes......sometimes with the fish still attached.
Dad also said one time he had a new pole he was going to try out for the first time that he had set up against the car and shut the door on it breaking it in two. Never got a chance to use it. He laughed about it yesterday....bet he didn't laugh the day it happened :-)

Dad is excited about the upcoming football season, as are many of the rest of us. He is mostly excited to see what BYU can do this year.

He has been doing a lot of reading in Jacob Chapter 5. He is wondering if anyone has any input about this very deep chapter. He would be interested in any insights others have had. While talking about this he related a story about an apple tree his dad had. His dad had grafted in 5 different kinds of apples so this tree had apples that were ripe at different times of the season. I'm not sure how well this worked because I remember going back there with my brothers and cousins and eating the apples while they were green. :-)
I remember Grandpa Hansen's backyard as a very cool place. He had a lot of fruit trees and a large garden which was really more Grandma's thing. They used to give us pear tomatoes right out of the garden. I loved those! It was fun to go back there and hang out with my cousins. Sometimes we set up the croquet set and played a game or two.

3. Who was the first recorded prophet to build a temple in BOM?
2Nephi 5:16. He not completely sure about this one.
