Mom's Journal

December 21, 1975

We got word from Las Vegas that Steve and Diane have a new baby girl. All is well. She weighted 7lbs 14oz. 19 inches long. Diane had the baby at 9:45am and came home that same day at 12:30. Times are changing. You used to stay in the hospital at least a few days.

February 18, 1978

Kim and Liz had a baby girl at 3:30am. Weight 7.5lbsm 21 inches long. She had a long labor but she is fine.


June 16, 1978
Steve and Diane had another baby girl. 8lbs 15ozs, 20 inches long. Red hair. They are going to name her Jessica


July 2, 1978

Steve named the baby Jessica. All the brothers stood in the circle, and Dad. Darrel's father didn't make this one. He is getting too shaky. He has Parkinson's Disease and he is losing his memory. Grandma is failing too. It is Janette's B.D. too but we celebrated it yesterday.


The next two are during the time we were on the building mission for the church.

July 22, 1966

Got Karl and Kim ready to go to Youth Conference. Took them down to the Florida State University where they met, had dinner and played ball. They stayed in the motel like the rest that came from far away. Took Darrel's dinner to him. Stayed and worked awhile, come home, got Treena, fixed us a sandwich to hold us awhile. It was Darrel's turn to work late, so he stayed until 8:30. No body showed so we went and bought Treena and Darrel a pizza for supper. I got a ham sandwich. We came home and watched T.V. then went to bed.

July 27, 1966

Today is the last day of primary for the summer. After primary we had supper then went back and worked at the church until 9:00pm. We had a pretty good crew out to help. Came home, went right to bed.
