Dad/Grandpa

He would still like some questions. He feels like he needs something to get him interested in reading his scriptures again. He specifically asked for some of those High Priest questions that are so out in left field. Giving him questions would also keep his mind active and help him in that way. So try to think of some if you can.

I usually copy the blog and take it down for him to read. He tells me every time how much he enjoys it. Today he was touched by Macie's story and impressed with Branden's TV interviews. He said Branden could probably hold his own with any reporter....I'm sure that includes the hotties too. :-)

Not sure if these are "high priest" questions or not but he might enjoy answering them.

1) How many Lamanites did Nephi & Lehi (sons of Helamen) baptize when they preached in the city of Zarahemla and the cities round about?

2) Which Nephite killed Amalickiah and Ammoron?

3) To which BOM Prophet was the Lord speaking when he said, "Behold, I give unto you power that whatsoever ye shall seal on earth shall be sealed in heaven; and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven;.."

Thanks Anita. He will love these. Maybe if Karl reads this before I get down there again he'll print them off and take them to dad....hint, hint.

In Third Nephi, when the Savior appears to the people at the temple, what does He say the reason is for teaching them the principle of baptism? And why do you think He would choose to focus on this doctrine over all the many other doctrines?
What is the application of this to our day?

Here are Dad/Grandpa's answers to your questions. First of all he wanted me to thank Wyatt and Anita for the music. He has listened to it 6 or so times already. It helps to calm his tremers.
Question 1...8,000
Question 2...Teancum (he looked all day in 3 Nep. for the answer to this one..finally found it in Alma.)
Question 3...Nephi, son of Helamen, who was the son of Helamens son. I think that means "Helamen's great grandson Nephi. (I just write what I'm told.)

Kims Question...This answer comes from Joseph Fielding Smith in "Answers to Gospel Questions"
"There is nothing strange in the fact that when the Lord came to the Nephites, Nephi was baptized and so was everybody else although thay had been baptized before.
"The Church among the Nephites before the cominng of Christ was not in its fulness and was under the law of Moses. The Savior restored the fulness and gave to them all the ordinances and blessings of the gospel. Therfore, it actually became a new organization, and through baptism they came into it.
"We have a similar condition in this dispensation. The Prophet Joseph Smith and Oliver Cowdery were baptized by command of the Angel John the Baptist. Several others were baptized before the organization of the Church. However, on the day the Church was organized, all who had been previously baptized were baptized again, not for the remmission of sins, but for entrance into the Church. In each case the reason was the same."
